Ship fuel/bilge pump – Bronze

This large pump casing is from a ship’s fuel/bilge pump which shows a wide crack in the face. The crack was repaired and both sides of the weld were to the contour of the pump housing original dimensions. This repair was an urgent repair effected to allow the ship to sail on time.

Bronze Ship Propeller

The ship propeller shown was approximately 2.5metres in diameter removed from a container ship. The bronze propeller was inspected and found to have a crack in the hub. The best repair solution in this case was using metal stitching which was repaired successfully and put back in service. The replacement cost of such a propeller would be several hundred thousand dollars, with significant lead time issues.

Marine Engine Cylinder Cover – Cast Steel

The RND90 Cylinder Cover required a fuel valve injector repair for a slow speed marine diesel engine. The head had a hairline crack which had to be located first. This was then welded and machined back to the original dimensions without any distortion to the head. The crack was located near the fuel injection point and repaired. Such repairs are often certified to Class Repairs by Lloyds Register.
